American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Medical Surgical Oncology position requiring active OH or compact RN licensure and strong med/surg experience.
Job Details
- Work in a hospital Medical Surgical Oncology unit, focusing on hematology and oncology patients,
- Care for patients diagnosed with lymphoma, multiple myeloma, leukemias, sickle cell disease, and other cancers,
- Perform specialized procedures including chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, insulin and heparin drips,
- Assignments include either day (7:00-19:30) or night (19:00-7:30) 12-hour shifts, potentially rotating between days and nights depending on staffing needs,
- Patient ratios target 1:4, may occasionally be 1:5,
- Float to other Med/Surg and Oncology units as required,
- Utilize Epic for computerized charting,
- Self-scheduling available; final schedules are balanced by the department,
Job Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required,
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required,
- Minimum previous Med/Surg experience required,
- Telemetry experience and interpretation of dysrhythmias required,
- Experience with MS/Tele, IV therapy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care required,
- Epic EMR experience preferred,
- Hematology oncology experience and ONS certification preferred,
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include administration of chemotherapy, patient monitoring, infection prevention, and managing oncologic emergencies,
- First week orientation is Mon-Fri dayshift, followed by 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor,
- Weekend coverage requirements are variable based on unit needs,
- No set or blocked schedules; all staff participate in department self-scheduling process,
- Heavy emphasis on infection prevention and fall safety protocols,
- Dress code and other compliance requirements provided during onboarding,
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this position,
