Travel RN - Telemetry - Progressive Care Unit

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position focusing on acute leukemia and hematology patients, requiring an active OH or compact RN license and at least 2 years of nursing experience.
Job Details
- Hospital Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting,
- Assignment in a new tower, Acute Leukemia and Hematology unit,
- Care for adult and geriatric patients, primarily newly diagnosed acute leukemia cases,
- Staffing ratio goal is 1:4, can be up to 1:5,
- Work 12-hour night shifts with some day/night flexibility,
- Schedule is self-directed with no set or blocked scheduling, but subject to unit needs, including variable weekends,
- Uses EPIC for electronic charting,
- Special focus on infection prevention and patient falls prevention,
Job Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration,
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required,
- BLS and ACLS certifications required,
- Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required,
- Proficiency in telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, rapid response, feeding tube care, IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, and starting IVs,
- Experience using EPIC for charting required,
- Two professional references required: one must be a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable for the second,
- ONS Chemo Cert and NIHSS certification preferred,
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include telemetry monitoring, infection prevention, and falls prevention in hematology/oncology patient population,
- Orientation includes a week of Mon-Fri days followed by 36 hours on-unit with a preceptor,
- First-time travelers are not eligible,
- Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers,
- Former employees may return after a minimum six-month break,
- Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital are not eligible for travel roles,
- Time off requests must be submitted with initial application and built into the contract,
- Strict fingerprinting requirements for Ohio; completion is required immediately after contract signing,
