American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position caring for acute leukemia and hematology patients, requiring at least 2 years of nursing experience and an OH or compact RN license.
Job Details
- Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within an acute leukemia and hematology department,
- Adult and geriatric patient population with primary diagnoses of newly diagnosed acute leukemia,
- Typical staffing ratios are 1:4, with a maximum of 1:5,
- Heavy focus on infection prevention and patient falls prevention protocols,
- Uses EPIC electronic medical record for computerized charting,
- Three 12-hour shifts per week; schedule may include days or nights from 7:00 to 19:30 or 19:00 to 7:30,
- Weekend shifts are variable based on unit needs,
- Self-scheduling requests are accepted and considered before finalizing the schedule,
- First week orientation is daytime Monday-Friday; second week includes 36 hours with a preceptor,
Job Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required,
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required,
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required,
- MS/Tele and telemetry skills required, including dysrhythmia interpretation and telemetry monitoring,
- Experience with rapid response teams, feeding tube care, IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line management, PICC management, and starting IVs required,
- EPIC charting experience preferred,
- ONS Chemo Certification and NIHSS certification preferred but not required,

- Main responsibilities include monitoring and caring for acute leukemia and hematology patients with a strong emphasis on infection prevention and falls prevention,
- Will be part of a specialized team focused on the care of newly diagnosed leukemia patients,
- First-time travelers will be screened and considered for the role,
- Self-scheduling allows for flexibility and individual shift preferences,
- No chemotherapy certification is required for this position,
