American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN with PCU/stepdown experience and required certifications for a night shift Telemetry - Progressive Care Unit assignment.
Job Details
- Work in the Medical Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with almost ICU-level acuity,
- Patient population includes multi-organ failure, liver failure, pulmonary cases, and stable ventilator patients,
- Multiple cardiac drips managed on unit,
- Staffing ratio is 1:5,
- Floating required within hospital and to affiliate hospitals, including to Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU units,
- Night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts (19:00-07:30),
- Uses Cerner EMR with required experience,
- Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned as needed,
Job Requirements
- Active IN or Compact RN license required at time of start,
- Minimum 18 months to 2 years recent PCU, DOU, IMC, or stepdown experience,
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications (AHA or RQI accepted),
- Must have experience titrating cardiac drips, starting IVs, and interpreting and managing dysrhythmias,
- Charge experience required,
- Degree must be from an ACEN or CCNE-accredited nursing program,
- Cerner EMR proficiency required,
- Not accepting local candidates for PCU positions,
Additional Information
- Precepting and student shadowing may be required as part of working in a teaching facility,
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply,
- Travelers are expected to work every other weekend and may need to work consecutive weekends as needed,
- Must be willing to float to different levels of care with support and resources provided,
- Must agree to work two out of three major holidays during assignment,
- Up to 5 days of requested time off (RTO) can be automatically approved,
- Former permanent or PRN employees must have a 12-month gap before being eligible for travel contracts,
