American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring strong cardiac and stepdown experience and an active IN or compact RN license.
Job Details
- Work in a Medical PCU of a teaching hospital setting,
- Patient population includes high-acuity cases such as multiple cardiac drips, stable vents, multi-organ failure, liver failure, and pulmonary conditions,
- Staffing ratio is 1:5,
- Night shifts (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30) are required,
- Travelers may float between varying levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) at affiliated facilities,
- Uses Cerner EMR and experience with this system is required,
- Weekend work is required every other week, with potential for consecutive weekends based on need,
- Charge nurse coverage may be required with provided training,
Job Requirements
- Active IN or compact RN license required for start date (license in hand),
- Current AHA or RQI ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications required,
- Minimum of 18 months to 2 years PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience required,
- Must have proficiency in titrating cardiac drips, starting IVs, interpreting and managing dysrhythmias, and previous charge nurse experience,
- Graduation from a nursing school accredited by ACEN or CCNE at the time of graduation,
- Cerner charting experience required,
- Local candidates are not accepted for PCU positions,
- Previous perm or PRN employees must be separated for at least 12 months before applying as travelers,
Additional Information
- Responsibilities may include precepting and being assigned students to shadow during the assignment,
- All travelers may be required to float within the hospital or to affiliated hospitals as needed,
- Candidates must agree to work 2 out of 3 major holidays as part of their contract,
- Up to 5 days of requested time off (RTO) can be auto-approved,
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply,
- Charge pay is available for qualifying shifts,
