Summary This position is assigned to the Non‑Appropriated Fund (NAF) Fitness, Sports, and Deployed Support Branch; Fleet Readiness; Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC); NAS Meridian, MS. Incumbent provides lifeguard duties, is responsible for safeguarding the lives of persons at the assigned work area, assists with aquatic training, education, and general support at the installation.
Duties
Certifications must be attached with submission of application or resume to be considered for this position.
Perform rescue work, promptly render CPR or emergency first aid, and call for medical assistance as necessary.
Supervise swimmers for safety and crowd control.
Enforce safety and pool regulations.
Promptly report safety hazards to supervisor.
Complete incident reports and assist in maintaining routine documents and reports.
Responsible for the cleanliness of the buildings and grounds at the pool areas.
Perform vacuuming, skimming, and routine pool maintenance.
Operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards.
Apply disinfectant to showers, floors, and decks.
Check I.D. cards for authorized patrons and collect usage fees, if applicable.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Conditions of employment
Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation.
Must successfully pass the E‑verify employment verification check.
Undergo Personal Identity Verification (PIV) with two forms of identification.
May be required to pass pre‑employment examinations.
Valid State driver's license required to operate motor vehicles.
Salary must be sent by Direct Deposit / Electronic Funds Transfer.
Selective Service Registration required for males born after 12/31/1959.
Qualifications In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered.
Six months experience as a pool lifeguard preferred but not required.
Approved and current nationally recognized certification as a lifeguard plus basic first aid and CPR certification.
Skill in the use and maintenance of pool equipment desired.
Dexterity to handle a person in the water who may panic or be unconscious.
Understanding of and ability to enforce rigid safety regulations.
Ability to use equipment to take pool readings.
National and state background checks required for positions that involve working with youth programs.
Key Requirements / Conditions of Employment
Males must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
Selectee must be determined suitable for federal employment.
Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
Selectee required to participate in the direct deposit pay program.
Social Security card required.
Employment verification (E‑VERIFY) required; REAL ID or passport required for access to Government Facilities.
A favorable background is required; failure to obtain a favorable background may result in withdrawal of the offer.
