Job Summary Greet patients and arrange for the efficient and orderly registration of patients. Ensure accurate patient and insurance information is collected and that patients are made aware of clinic policies and procedures. Answer telephone calls and billing questions. Process medical records requests, information requests and general patient account functions. Work with and have access to confidential patient information. Make frequent decisions or actions following general procedures, often without clearly defined precedents. The role requires a high degree of mental alertness, close visual attention to detail, diplomacy and a professional image and manner when dealing with patients, families, visitors, and clinic personnel. This position has high contact with patients, employees and physicians, and attendance is an essential function of this job.
Responsibilities
Greet patients and manage registration efficiently.
Collect accurate patient and insurance information.
Inform patients about clinic policies and procedures.
Answer calls, including billing inquiries.
Process medical record requests and general account functions.
Make decisions following procedures and exercise good judgment.
Maintain a professional image and manner with all stakeholders.
Ensure punctual attendance and reliability.
Qualifications
Minimum one‑year experience in a customer service setting; at least six months of receptionist experience in a health‑care environment and experience with office equipment.
Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
Physical requirements: normal office environment; close‑eye work with vision corrected to 20/20, normal hearing of soft tones; must sit 7‑8 hours/day; stand, walk, use fingers to handle tools and controls; hand‑eye coordination and finger dexterity; reach with hands and arms; lift and carry up to 50 pounds; may be exposed to airborne particles; view computer screens for long periods; occasional stress related to workload and customer issues.
