It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters!**Description of Work**Salary Range: $37,782 - $66,120
Reporting directly to the Correctional Lieutenant II, this position will provide supervision for subordinate officers regarding their assigned tasks with male offenders in a minimum/medium custody state corrections facility. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Conducting shift line-up, making shift assignments and inspecting personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally
capable of assuming an assigned post.
· Completing, reviewing, and maintaining time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations and administrative forms.
· Accounting for persons and ensuring that all assigned equipment is operationally ready.
· Rotating and various duty assignments within the defined level of work.**Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences*** Knowledge of Facility Operations.* Knowledge of Prisons’ Policy and Procedures.Necessary Special Qualifications:by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.This is a full-time position working rotating shifts with .Note to Current State Employees:The salary grade for this position is **NC08**. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity.
