Job Profile Summary:
Takes a lead role in facilitating capacity‑building activities, collaborating with central research administrations to develop and implement strategic initiatives that elevate the institution's overall competitiveness for extramural research funding.
Responsibilities:
Identify funding opportunities across state, national, and international agencies.
Work closely with faculty and staff to understand sponsor priorities and develop strategic messaging aligned with submission requirements.
Provide guidance on proposal development, ensuring alignment with funding agency priorities and showcasing ASU's strengths.
Coordinate proposal production, including checklist creation, role assignment, milestone scheduling, and documentation management.
Facilitate proposal development meetings and maintain a central proposal calendar.
Offer expertise in narrative development, budgeting, graphics, and quality control to achieve high‑quality submissions.
Manage the proposal team from kickoff to final submission, including task assignment, review coordination, and version control.
Collaborate with the Art Director to create compelling graphics.
Promote best practices by presenting workshops and developing templates and boilerplates.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with proposal management principles and practices throughout the research lifecycle.
Background in STEM research or product development.
Master’s or Doctoral degree in physics, engineering, or physical chemistry with at least five years of related experience, including two years in proposal management.
Track record of submitting proposals to U.S. federal agencies (DOD, DOE, NSF).
Experience leading large collaborative grants such as NSF STC, ERC, DMREF, DOE EFRC, or DOD DURIP.
Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) certification preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of experience and training.
