Litigation/Workers Compensation Paralegal A dynamic and fast-growing full-service law firm in the worker’s compensation area of Law is seeking a paralegal to add to their team . The firm is a boutique style law firm that exclusively represents injured federal workers seeking benefits under the Federal Employees Compensation Act (“FECA”). The firm’s practice is national in scope with a rapidly expanding client base and is the only law firm in the country that practices FECA exclusively within our niche case types. The firm has two office locations, one in Charlotte and one in Boston, MA. This position is for the Charlotte Office but will require intermittent travel to Boston. This is a contract to hire position with a pay rate of $31-33/hr on experience with excellent benefits and bi-annual bonus once permanent. Located in the Ballantyne area of Charlotte NC Position Description and Responsibilities: This is a full-time paralegal position focusing on the FECA and personal injury claims that we pursue. Core responsibilities of the position consist of reviewing, analyzing/footnoting and bookmarking medical records; writing a concise, relevant, yet comprehensive history of the case; interviewing clients; preparing medical packages for expert physicians; preparing demand packets; interacting with the medical community and the U.S. Department of Labor; preparing claim documentation for filing with the United States Department of Labor; and managing the personal injury portion of the case files. Position Requirements: A minimum of five years of experience in a professional office environment dealing with personal injury/medical/legal claims administration or significant experience in related field. A strong background in litigation or workers compensation is preferred. The successful applicant must have the ability to understand and discuss the relevancy and applicability of medical records, interact with governmental and insurance claims personnel. The position requires the ability to understand those portions of medical records that are supportive of the case and to timely and accurately extract and highlight the information. The position requires keen attention to detail, utmost of dependability and reliability, excellent organizational skills, strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. The position would be ideal for one with law firm litigation and or workers compensation claims experience.
