A K-12 Special Education Teacher position is available for the 2025-2026 school year, focused on resource room and self-contained classrooms, serving students with varied special education needs. This full-time contract role, based onsite in Howell, MI, supports the education of students primarily in urban settings, with caseloads typically up to 22 students. Key Responsibilities: Deliver specialized instruction in resource room and self-contained settings for Early Learning (pre-K) through grade 12. Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with student needs and Michigan educational standards. Adapt teaching strategies to support students with Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitively Impaired (CI), or Learning Disabilities (LD). Collaborate with families and school staff to address challenges faced by urban students, incorporating relevant resources and supports. Comply with Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and IDEA federal regulations. Participate in remote interviews and fulfill full-time availability (35 hours per week) from approximately January 26 to June 12, 2026. Qualifications: Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate with endorsements in Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitively Impaired (CI), or Learning Disabilities (LD); Early Childhood (ZA) endorsement preferred. Experience working with urban student populations and understanding the unique challenges they face. Familiarity with MARSE and IDEA regulations governing special education services. Commitment to onsite work in an urban school district. Strong organizational and communication skills to manage caseload and collaborate with educational teams.
