A full-time special education teaching opportunity is available for grades 3 through 5 in an elementary school setting located in Arlington, VA. This role focuses on providing specialized instruction and support to a classroom of six students within the Multi-Intervention Program for Students with Autism (MIPA). The program targets communication, on-task behavior, independent living skills, and social interaction to prepare students for less restrictive educational environments. Key Responsibilities: Teach and support elementary students (3rd-5th grade) with autism using structured intervention strategies. Collaborate with two instructional assistants to deliver individualized education. Develop lesson plans aligned with student needs and VA teaching standards. Participate in bi-monthly staff meetings and professional development sessions, staying until 5:00 pm on those days. Monitor and report on student progress, adapting approaches to maximize engagement and growth. Qualifications/Certifications: Current or eligible Virginia teaching license with specialization in Special Education. Experience working with elementary-age students, preferably within special education or autism programs. Ability to manage a small classroom and collaborate effectively with support staff. Schedule and Duration: Full-time, 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Daily hours are 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, with occasional extended hours twice a month. Position starts ASAP, continuing through the remainder of the school year, with an option to renew for extended school year and next school year. Benefits Include: Competitive weekly pay.
