New Jersey’s academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS), takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research to improve human health. Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey seeks a Central Sterile Tech I in the Office of Clinical Affairs at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM). The Central Sterile Tech I performs reprocessing of patient‑care items in the central sterilization area, handles assigned projects, and provides guidance as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs activities including cleaning, decontamination, disinfection, assembly, and sterilization of instruments, items, and devices used for patient care. Operates reprocessing equipment and monitors its function following standard precautions and established procedures. Supports Lead Tech and Program Coordinator with new staff orientation, on‑job training, and student sterilization rotations. Assists in coordinating daily workflow when Lead Sterile Tech is absent; takes charge of processing functions and facilitates team performance. Maintains an orderly department, monitors supply levels, and participates in stock rotation for expiration dates. Interacts professionally with other departments and personnel within RSDM, providing service at intake and dispatch windows. Participates in Quality Assurance activities; processes sterilization monitoring devices and records test results manually and electronically. Coordinates with the Lead Sterile Tech to ensure all cassettes, miscellaneous items, student handpieces, and burs are organized and available for CDCA exams. Follows Standard Precautions, maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient environment by adhering to RSDM Infection Control Policy and complying with federal, state, and departmental policies. FLSA
