Are you an experienced client-side Project Manager looking for a role that goes beyond traditional infrastructure delivery? We’re seeking a proactive and strategic thinker to join our team and lead complex projects within the Planning and City Development space.
About the role | Ko te mahi nei This is a client-side position where you’ll apply robust project management processes and disciplines to ensure planning initiatives progress smoothly and successfully. Projects include Mass Rapid Transit, Coastal Adaptation, and Hornby Development Area Plan. You آمد:
Drive projects forward by anticipating potential roadblocks and navigating legislative and procedural challenges.
Apply your understanding of local government legislation, planning frameworks, and statutory processes to keep projects compliant and on track.
Identify interdependencies across multiple workstreams and bring stakeholders together to achieve aligned outcomes.
Maintain momentum and clarity in projects that involve diverse stakeholders and complex regulatory environments.
We’re looking for someone with solid client-side project management experience, particularly in planning, development, or local government contexts. They will have strong knowledge of local government legislation and planning processes, with exceptional problem‑solving skills that allow them to foresee and mitigate risks before they impact delivery. This role requires a deep understanding of project management principles and disciplines in order to apply these to non‑infrastructure projects.

Hours of work – 37.5 – 40 hours per week
Position – Permanent, full time
Location – This position is primarily based at Te Hononga, Christchurch City Council Civic Offices – 53 Hereford Street
Salary – The salary band for this position goes from $126,230 – $140,255 per annum based upon a 40‑hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relative factors both within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
