Mission description The Service Center Planner will forecast and plan spare parts required to support Service Center overhaul and repairs within turnaround time guarantees.
SUMMARY Responsible for accurate forecasting, inventory management, procurement, and coordination with Service Center teams and suppliers to ensure timely and cost‑effective availability of parts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Meet customer requirements while minimizing inventory holdings with two inventory turns per year.
Daily review of Service Center past‑due backlog to ensure parts flow to support turnaround time guarantees.
Apply aviation‑based forecasting methodology using part reliability, historical usage, and predicted/actual market expansion or contraction.
Read component maintenance manuals, manufacturers drawings, engineering orders, service bulletins, and service letters to identify part numbers, descriptions, and applications.
Place purchase orders, follow up on ship dates, expedites, and late orders to meet demand; enter purchase order acknowledgements electronically and manually.
Process requests for quotes and research technical issues with the Technical Support department.
Clear customs issues with freight carriers for incoming product.
Purchase consumables for repair shops, including chemicals, adhesives, etc.
Work with repair shop personnel to procure parts for repairs.
Resolve incoming shipping discrepancies and process rejected/defective parts, obtaining corrected paperwork, replacement parts, return authorizations and credits.
Communicate with all departments regarding procurement of parts.
Ensure timely and cost‑efficient procurement of approved parts and supplies and that all related paperwork is processed and filed.
Distribute paperwork: purchase orders mailed, copies distributed to departments; parts and supplies accompanied by proper paperwork (packing slips, certificates of conformance, PMs, MSDs, etc.).
Weekly review and follow‑up with vendor corporate buyers on open order reports; follow up with receiving and accounting on any invoice discrepancies.
Complete daily paperwork for job assignments and perform all other duties as directed.
Negotiate with internal and external suppliers to resolve schedules, inventory levels, shortages, and other material issues; anticipate, identify, resolve, and recommend solutions.
Knowledge and Skills
5 years of aviation forecasting and distribution experience.
Strong understanding of statistical forecasting methodology.
Technical aptitude and proficiency with computers, email, spreadsheets, word processing, and PowerPoint.
Apics / CPIM / ISM certification highly desired.
Experience with computer systems including SAU ERP (Quantum), Hyperion, Excel.
Project Management, Performance Management, Communication, Technical Capacity, Strategic Thinking, Business Acumen, Leadership, Initiative, Decision Making, Problem Solving/Analysis.
Associate’s degree or higher.
Strong written and oral communication, presentation skills.
Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally.
