Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI) has an opening for a civil engineer with a technical focus on structural engineering and/or site (civil) design for substations and power delivery facilities.
Responsibilities
Structural engineering: develop design criteria, structure design, foundation design, building design, and related works. Structure design typically includes standard shape steel structures, tubular steel structures, fire walls, and related facilities. Foundation design includes drilled piers, shallow/pad, and spread footing foundations. Proficiency with software design packages such as Visual Analysis, STAAD.Pro, Risa, LPILE, MFAD, and CAISSON is preferred.
Site (Civil) engineering: develop design criteria; grading & drainage design; access road design (paved and unpaved sections), vehicle maneuvering modeling, haul road analysis; design retaining walls, perimeter walls, fences and gates; water/stormwater drawing design; interpret hydrology studies; ACAD Civil 3D experience preferred.
Possibility to perform project management functions depending on experience and interest, including scoping, budgeting, scheduling, directing a team of civil engineers, designers and drafters, project monitoring & control, client interface, and project reporting.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organization and planning abilities; ability to work in a team environment
Commitment to quality and accuracy; willingness to meet fast-paced project schedules
PE license is preferred depending on experience level
Knowledge of applicable codes, standards and design tools
May be subject to client-mandated drug and background checks
Occasional travel; must meet ECI auto insurance carrier requirements
