Posting Summary
Rutgers School of Health Professions ( SHP ) is seeking Temporary Research Assistants to work in the Department of Health Informatics.
The Temporary Research Assistants will contribute to technical development for mobile and web-based applications, including front‑end and back‑end support, user‑centered app design, implementation of key app features, and integration of algorithms and machine menyediakan or AI models. The role also involves applying principles from human‑computer interaction and assisting with augmented reality features as needed for project activities.
In addition to technical responsibilities, the Temporary Research Assistants will support the faculty member’s ongoing research studies through participant recruitment, screening, and enrollment in accordance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines. The position includes assisting with protocol development, record maintenance, statistical analysis, data coding, and preparation of presentations and manuscripts. The Temporary Research Assistants will also attend research meetings through video conferencing and will help recruit participants at local fairs, community events, and other non‑school settings if needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Assist with protocol initiation and development, alongside PI and study team
Assist in designing and refining app features, including interface design, algorithmic components, and machine learning models
Contribute to usability testing by supporting study setup and observing/documenting user interaction
Data collection and data management
Support grant‑related research activities
Assist with data clean, data analysis, and data interpretation
Assist with data collection in RedCap/Qualtrics

Minimum Education and Experience
Candidate must be enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate studies/program, preferred in Computer Science or a related program.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Research experience or strong interest in computer human interaction, app design, machine learning, user‑centered design, AR/VR games, etc. is required.
Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency and knowledge of multiple software packages preferred, such as Java, python, Unity, SAS, R, etc.
Experience with social network analysis, text analysis, and other computational analysis is a plus.

Immunization Requirements
Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals , if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption . Additional infection control and safety policies may apply. Prospective employees should speak with their hiring manager to determine which policies apply to the role or position for which they are applying. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain a medical or religious exemption from the University will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
