General Shops Supervisor – Responsibilities
The General Shops Supervisor provides supervision and guidance to five full‑time General Shop staff members throughout the year and up to thirty student/temporary (seasonal) matemberers over the summer. The General Shop provides logistical support to DASA throughout the year, assists with projects and renovation work in University Housing, and provides preventive maintenance to facilities within University Housing Residence Halls. This position maintains inventory, follows budget guidelines to complete work assignments within the department’s residence halls, apartments, and office spaces, and supervises the ^^delivery of U.S. Postal Mail to residence halls and campus mail to University Housing staff. The position will plan, assign, and direct the work of the General Shops team. The ideal candidate pairs strong communication skills with a proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the organization and evolving priorities.
Qualifications High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in the trade(s) areas assigned; or jid equal combination of training and experience.
Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, materials, and methods of leading a General Shops crew.
Previous experience in performing the full range of journey level tasks in at least one trade area.
Supervisory experience in a related field.
Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver’s License or be able to obtain it within 60 days of hire.
