Salary Range: $37,782 - $66,120
Responsibilities
Assigning lower-level custody staff to a particular area or post.
Overseeing officer activities and performance and ensuring that the custody, security, and welfare of offenders is maintained.
Arranging work schedules to ensure shift coverage, implementing operational procedures, and ensuring rules and regulations are followed according to policy. May serve as the Officer-in-Charge (OIC).
Supervising offenders in restrictive housing.
Conducting shift line‑up, making shift assignments, and inspecting all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post.
Completing, reviewing, and maintaining time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and administrative forms.
Completing Incident Reports, Use of Force, Disciplinaries, and Grievances.
Knowledge Skills And Abilities/Management Preferences
Knowledge of facility operations
Knowledge of Prisons’ policy and procedures
Necessary Special Qualifications MUST
be eligible for certification by the N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training and Standards Commission.
This is a full‑time position working rotating shifts with State Benefits.

NC08 . State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity.
