Training Coordinator – Carpentry and Joinery
Location: Bedford, Multi‑Site – Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire Campuses.
Salary: Between £30,915 and £41,085 per annum (DOE & qualifications). 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, People’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, and professional development opportunities.
Hours: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year.
Contract: Permanent – Full Time.

About The Role We are seeking a Training Coordinator to join our Apprenticeships department at The Bedford College Group.
Responsibilities
Manage the full learner journey in the carpentry sector, from initial assessment and induction to training delivery, progress tracking, and successful completion of apprenticeship standards.
Provide coaching, mentoring, and regular workplace assessments to develop learners’ knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs), ensuring high‑quality feedback and SMART target setting.
Design and coordinate training programmes, ensure compliance with awarding body standards, and participate in internal verification, standardisation and curriculum improvement.
Liaise with employers to arrange assessments, provide progress updates and promote apprenticeship opportunities; collaborate with internal teams to align learner support and programme delivery.
Maintain accurate learner records, adhere to funding rules and uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety and college values; engage in CPD and contribute to team development.
About You
Hold GCSEs (Grade A–C) in English and Maths, an A1 Assessor or TAQA Award and Level 2 & 3 qualifications in the relevant sector; possess up‑to‑date knowledge of training, assessing and verifying practices.
Have recent commercial or industrial experience with a strong background in training, assessing and coordinating competence‑based programmes, including employer liaison.
Be skilled in motivating learners, managing caseloads, setting SMART targets and ensuring timely qualification completion through effective communication and support.
Demonstrate strong coordination and record‑keeping abilities, ensuring compliance with audit requirements and successful apprenticeship delivery.
Be customer‑focused, proactive, adaptable, and able to travel across sites while identifying new business opportunities and promoting college values.
