Job Title:
Med-Surg/Telemetry Float RN (Night Shift)
Position Overview We are seeking experienced
Med‑Surg/Telemetry Float Registered Nurses
for a 13‑week contract assignment. This role involves floating between multiple units, including medical‑surgical floors and an acute inpatient rehab (ortho/neuro). The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and leadership in a fast‑paced hospital environment.
Responsibilities
Provide high‑quality nursing care to adult patients with a variety of medical and post‑surgical conditions
Float between designated units based on staffing needs
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team
Administer medications and manage drips, including heparin, magnesium, and potassium riders
Recognize and respond to changes in patient conditions and act promptly
Serve as charge nurse when assigned
Maintain accurate documentation and uphold all hospital and nursing standards
Patient Population
Common diagnoses: Sepsis, COPD, CHF, post‑op recovery, plastics, and general medical‑surgical conditions
ALC (Awaiting Long‑Term Care Placement) patients
Patient ratio: 1:5–6
Requirements
Active
Registered Nurse (RN)
license in
New York State
Minimum
1 successful traveler assignment
completed (first‑time travelers not considered)
BLS and ACLS certifications required
Meditech experience required
Graduate of an
accredited School of Nursing
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to function well under pressure and in changing environments
Demonstrated leadership and prioritization skills
