THE POSITION:
At STACK, the VP, Development (West) is responsible for leading a team focused on data center development activities including negotiating land transactions and supporting agreements, managing diligence and permitting efforts, optimizing utility and network interconnections, working with design and construction teams, developing and managing project budgets, and participating in data center jcorporate priorities, including identification of new markets, network and energy procurement, and participating in product development and sales-support activities. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing a team that negotiates large, complex development deals with an ability to understand and align stakeholder interests.
Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and excellence-driven culture. Ensure the team has the resources and training needed to meet their objectives effectively. Oversee multiple data center development projects from inception to completion, ensuring high-quality execution across various stages. Manage and guide the team through data center and infrastructure development efforts, including property diligence, permitting, site and facility design, utility interconnection, finance, taxes, incentives, and land procurement. Delegate tasks effectively while maintaining high standards of quality control and process efficiency. Lead negotiations for data center development transactions and associated legal agreements. Champion the development and implementation of streamlined processes and best practices to enhance operational maturity and efficiency. Interface with internal and external stakeholders, including finance, construction, design, engineering, sales, legal teams, and consultative resources. Represent STACK to community partners, industry colleagues, and investors. Maintain and cultivate strategic relationships with key stakeholders across North America to support business growth and development. Present detailed business plans and recommendations for executive leadership, and partner with the sales team to present build-to-suit opportunities to potential clients.
THE DETAILS:
Location: Denver, CO Travel: up to 30-40% Domestic Compensation: $275,000 to 285,000 yearly plus annual bonus potential Must be eligible to work in the United States Must pass comprehensive background screening
MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in real estate, development or a related field; Advanced degree preferred Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in real estate development (data center development preferred) Proven record of accomplishment in successfully leading large-scale development projects. Strong knowledge of the data center industry, including regulatory environments and market dynamics Exceptional leadership and project management skills. Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to think strategically and solve complex problems. Proficient in Microsoft Office product suite Strong analytical, creative thinking, and communication skills Comfort creating processes and implementing strategies and procedures that serve an organization. Ability to execute, process, and prioritize tasks with minimal-to-no supervision. Ability to manage multiple projects, a development staff, external consultants, vendors, and other stakeholders.
