Job Purpose:
Plan, design, direct, integrate, coordinate, and improve services that fulfill the mission, sustain the philosophy, and achieve the objectives of USA Health. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the health system and affiliate activities and communicate to the USA Health Senior Leadership. Perform site-specific administrative duties at the direction of the USA Health CEO. Job Functions: Provide hands-on executive oversight for USA Health's rural affiliates’ finance and accounting divisions and lead the financial strategic positioning for the hospitals. Play a critical role in elevating the rural affiliate hospitals' performance, driving operational improvements, ensuring fiscal responsibility, enabling growth, and positioning the hospitals for long-term success. Lead a high-performance team, connecting individuals to common goals and fostering accountability. Build trusting, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders. Establish a reputation as a knowledgeable and credible financial leader supporting the organization’s vision and operations. Report directly to the CEO with a dotted line to the University VP of Finance & Administration. Coordinate all departments within the hospitals’ finance divisions, including Accounting, Purchasing, HIM/Medical Records, Reimbursement, Managed Care, Patient Accounting, Patient Access, and Revenue Cycle. Execute financial strategies, excel in revenue cycle and cost management, and position organizations for success. Work collaboratively across communities and health systems. Support data-driven decision-making through analytics and benchmarking. Promote a culture of financial prudence, develop internal controls, budgets, and provide financial reporting and education. Foster a collaborative relationship with the USA Finance & Accounting Team and understand USA Health’s role within the larger system. Lead by example as a strategic, high-integrity financial leader. Assess and develop the finance & accounting team, ensuring optimal performance and ongoing education. Enhance decision support capabilities with detailed revenue and cost analytics, and improve budgeting processes. Evaluate revenue cycle performance, improve billing and collections, and build cash reserves as needed. Drive operational and financial improvements through performance metrics and benchmarks. Provide strategic leadership for organizational growth, service portfolio, and partnership opportunities. Review payor contracts, develop relationships with payors and associations, and evaluate payment models. Assess and maximize the 340B program savings. Improve the financial and strategic performance of the employed physician enterprise. Partner with clinical leaders to enhance case and utilization management. Build relationships with physicians for performance and growth collaborations. Evaluate and optimize hospital EHR systems. Coordinate with outside auditors for annual audits, cost reports, and federal/state submissions. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in administration, accounting, or finance from an accredited institution as approved by the University of South Alabama. A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible healthcare financial management or accounting experience, preferably in a multi-hospital system. A Master's degree and/or CPA is preferred. Experience in health systems is also preferred.
