Senior Server Administrator
for an opportunity in Columbia, SC. Candidates must be eligible to earn a low-level US security clearance (public trust).
Work arrangement:
Hybrid: 3 days onsite (TWTh); 2 days remote (MF). Must be within 45-minute drive of workplace W2 position; 12 months Must be eligible to earn a low-level US security clearance, which requires a thorough background search and US citizenship. Position summary:
Support Windows Server OS and hardware including advanced troubleshooting, software installations, and end user support. The Windows Server team supports over 2000 servers which run primarily as virtual servers on VMware but also includes physical servers. Required technologies:

CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+ Minimum required work experience:
4 years of server or other job-related experience. Preferred: 5 years of experience working in infrastructure/server environments performing monitoring (hardware and/or software) and implementations. Job/class description:
Administers and deploys infrastructure including hardware, software, and various configurations. Provides administration and maintenance of user devices and communications links to assure operational availability. Administers and tests server hardware and software. Performs remedial maintenance of server devices including the restoration of hardware and software. Administers use, capacity and performance of server systems. Focuses on multiple aspects of server operations across multiple platforms. Works with end users and vendors to resolve server issues. Upgrades and configures server devices from multiple vendors. Maintains effective relationships with external suppliers to ensure appropriate levels of support. Schedules, plans, and performs system upgrades, including coordinating the transition from test to production environments. Confers with users to resolve problems affecting server performance. Validates and adjusts server configuration as needed. Generates server utilization/trending/error reports as requested. Observes and controls the status and performance of all components of server/system facilities. Maintains control of server devices. Control access to, and authorization level of devices. Maintains effective security/backup and disaster recovery processes and systems. Performs data backups and disaster recovery operations as needed. Address vulnerabilities within audit-mandated time frames. Ensure server compliance with audit requirements. Participates in continuous review and remediation to ensure that processes meet changing business unit conditions. Creates and maintains process and procedure documentation. Provides feedback on commonly encountered problems and misunderstandings to enhance user documentation and/or training programs etc. Works with others to establish and improve processes and procedures. Updates knowledge and skills to keep up with rapid advancements in server administration technology. Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Strong technical knowledge of servers, communications, and related hardware and software. Knowledge of server technologies and platforms. Strong technical skills including problem analysis of server systems. Able to gather information to troubleshoot various server problems. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate technical issues with non-technical people. Strong customer service skills. Strong knowledge of common server administration, monitoring and security utilities. Strong understanding of relevant server hardware and software. Work environment:
On call rotation (typlically once every 5 weeks for one week) Ability to drive to the work location (Columbia, SC 29223) when on call Weekends and off-hours as needed. Standard hours: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm The team works well together The successful candidate will be knowledgeable, collaborative, dependable, and positive Required education/equivalencies:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other job-related degree; OR, Associates degree in CS, IT, or other job-related degree plus 2 years of work-related experience; OR, 4 years job-related work experience (total 8 years without a degree) Preferred: Bachelor's degree Interested?
