HR Generalist
with a strong background in
recruiting
to join a mission-driven nonprofit organization located in
Downtown Los Angeles . This is a
contract-to-hire
opportunity ideal for a human resources professional passionate about people operations and making an impact in the nonprofit sector. Key Responsibilities: Lead full-cycle recruitment efforts including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding new hires across multiple departments. Partner with department managers to assess staffing needs and develop effective recruitment strategies. Manage employee relations, including conflict resolution, performance improvement, and compliance with HR policies and procedures. Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws. Assist with benefits administration, open enrollment, and employee engagement initiatives. Support HR programs such as training & development, DEI, and wellness. Contribute to a positive organizational culture aligned with the organizations mission and values. Qualifications: 3+ years of HR Generalist experience with a strong emphasis on recruiting. Previous experience working in or with nonprofit organizations highly preferred. Knowledge of California labor laws and HR best practices. Proficiency with HRIS systems and recruitment platforms (e.g., ADP, Paychex, BambooHR, or similar). Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Education: Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus. Seniority level
