Electrical Superintendent Job Description
The Electrical Superintendent will lead the effort in coordinating, scheduling, and managing the electrical trade and their associated subcontractors. They will work with the project team to ensure the successful completion of all electrical work. The role reports directly to the Director of Construction. Duties and Responsibilities:
Take overall responsibility for the performance and quality control of all electrical practices. Review all contract documents for fluency and familiarity. Prior to installation, review shop drawings and submittals for compliance and completeness. Participate in the cost review and change order process related to electrical projects. Assist the Project Manager as necessary in estimating change orders. Review all pay requests from electrical subcontractors to ensure they are proper and timely. Provide scheduling input to the project team regarding the electrical trade. Coordinate onsite activities, materials procurement, and related activities with the Project Manager and Field Staff. Communicate progress and prepare reports as needed and requested. Troubleshoot and assist in resolving field installation issues. Coordinate the installation of owner-provided equipment related to the trade. Monitor the installation, start-up, and commissioning of systems, working with the Engineer and Owner. Manage the owner training process. Oversee the close-out process for the electrical trade. Education, Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:
5+ years of experience in construction and electrical work. Strong communication skills. Ability to identify and resolve complex issues. Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and low-voltage systems. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering is preferred but not required. Experience dealing with subcontracts and subcontractors. Skills in Navisworks, Revit, and AutoCAD are a plus.
