WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
is seeking an for its Transportation Construction Section.
The Transportation Construction Section is responsible for the advertising, construction and quality assurance of new capital improvement projects as well as improvements to existing transportation facilities including roads, bridges, bikeways and pedestrian facilities. The Construction Section achieves its core mission of delivering construction projects on time, under budget, and meeting the desired scope/quality with the help of Engineers, Construction Managers, Construction Inspectors, Material Inspectors and Administration Staff.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Experience: Three (3) years of experience in an engineering field appropriate to construction or transportation.
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering, construction management or a related discipline appropriate to the assigned position. Registration as a Professional Engineer may substitute for the degree.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, provided such combination includes at least sixty (60) accredited semester hours (or an equivalent amount of accredited professional training) in engineering or related courses appropriate to the assigned position.
LICENSE: Possession and maintenance at all times of a valid Class "C" (or equivalent) driver's license from the applicant's state of residence

The Transportation Construction Section is responsible for the advertising, construction and quality assurance of new capital improvement projects as well as improvements to existing transportation facilities including roads, bridges, bikeways and pedestrian facilities. The Construction Section achieves its core mission of delivering construction projects on time, under budget, and meeting the desired scope/quality with the help of Engineers, Construction Managers, Construction Inspectors, Material Inspectors and Administration Staff.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Providing comprehensive engineering plan reviews including constructability and sequence of construction reviews.
- Checking and verifying contract quantities and cost estimates.
- Drafting construction contract documents including Invitation for Bids (IFB) and Request for Proposals (RFP) for transportation facilities in the Division's Capital Improvement Program (CIP) that are delivered through various project delivery systems including but not limited to design-bid-build, design-build, and Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR). The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation of Invitation for Bids (IFB), Requests for Proposals (RFP), scope of services, contract amendments and other documents for the selection and contracting of construction services as well as for required modifications to existing construction contracts.
- Coordinating and conducting meetings with consultants, contractors, federal, state, local and other County agencies, and/or utility companies on program requirements, contract documents, schedule, budget, laws and regulations.
- Preparing and distributing meeting minutes.
- Assisting or leading the effort to acquire or renew construction permits.
- Training and mentoring others as needed.
