(1) full-time Inventory Purchasing Specialist II

vacancy at the Judge Patricia H. Clark Children and Family Justice Center in Seattle with the

Juvenile Detention Division . The job duties will include purchasing goods and services and ensuring documentation and inventory control, stocking/receiving, cataloging and filing specialized items, and keeping accurate records. The Inventory Purchasing Specialist II has a working knowledge of purchasing policies and inventory systems and works independently with minimal supervision.

Job Duties

The job description is an overview and is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. It is not to be an exhaustive list of all the functions and tasks required of this position.

Manage inventory disbursements and document stock levels. Process inventory purchases and maintain purchasing/inventory records. Acknowledge receipt of goods and services. Maintain adequate supplies to meet Divisions needs. Pick-up and deliver, load, and unload items as required using a King County vehicle. Purchase goods, commodities, and services including uniforms and equipment for individual staff. Obtain price quotes; research vendor sources; and select vendors for purchase of standard parts, materials, supplies, tools, and services. Conduct price comparisons to identify savings. Coordinate with central purchasing office. Prepare requests for purchasing authorization/limited procurement requisitions for minority/women business enterprises. Prepare change order requests. Assist with the preparation and review of bid specifications. Receive, analyze and order critical and non-standard requests. Process standard non-inventory items. Update current computerized and manual pricing information. Expedite operational orders/overdue/back orders. Solve problems with accounts payable invoicing errors. Resolve discrepancies. Review billings for accuracy. Maintain computerized internal purchasing/inventory records and information system. Input and research inventory and direct purchases, disbursements, inventory adjustments, and the history of parts use. Update computer master files. Assist other county entities(court) with ordering and supplies.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

Candidates must possess the following qualifications, knowledge, and skills:

Experience in basic accounting and bookkeeping principles Experience in basic warehousing equipment and supplies Experience in general office procedures and policies Experience in purchasing procedures and practices Ability to clearly communicate orally and in writing Ability to perform basic mathematical skills Proficiency in Microsoft Suites Applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint. Skill in handling several projects or tasks simultaneously Ability to interpret and evaluate manuals and catalogs Ability to work effectively as a team player Ability to create and present material to varied audiences Strong organizational skills, and ability to manage and track data, supplies, and documents.

candidates will have experience working within detention operations.

Supplemental Information

WORK SCHEDULE:

This position will work a 40-hour work week and is overtime eligible. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday. Typical work hours are 0800-1630 (with a half hour unpaid lunch). There is some limited flexibility in the work hours (to be determined on a case-by-case basis).

WORK LOCATION:

The individual selected for this position will work within a secure juvenile detention setting and will be assigned to the Judge Patricia H. Clark Youth Services Center located at 1211 E. Alder Street, Seattle, WA.

The Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention (DAJD) follows and maintains federal and state requirements standards including, but not limited to, Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards which apply to all public and private institutions that house adult or juvenile offenders. PREA standards preclude the department from hiring or promoting anyone who has engaged in, or been convicted of any conduct which would violate PREA standards related to sexual assault including:

Sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility, or other institution. Convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse; or, Has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described above.

Additionally, PREA standards require that the department consider any incidents of sexual harassment involving an inmate or detainee in determining whether or not to hire or promote anyone. The above is in compliance with PREA and its implementing regulations, 28 C.F.R. Part 115, Subpart A, Section 115.17, Hiring and Promotion Decisions.
