Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) Job Summary:
The Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of all electrical and electronic systems onboard Helix ESG's offshore vessels, including dynamic positioning (DP) systems, power generation/distribution, control systems, and navigation equipment. The ETO plays a critical role in ensuring vessel operability, safety, and compliance with maritime regulations.

The Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of all electrical and electronic systems onboard Helix ESG's offshore vessels, including dynamic positioning (DP) systems, power generation/distribution, control systems, and navigation equipment. The ETO plays a critical role in ensuring vessel operability, safety, and compliance with maritime regulations.
Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) Responsibilities:
- Maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems, power management systems, PLCs, control systems, and automation equipment.
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of DP systems, thruster controls, and associated electronics.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on switchboards, generators, motors, UPS systems, and fire/gas detection systems.
- Maintain navigation and communication systems in accordance with IMO, SOLAS, and class requirements.
- Monitor and log power distribution performance and coordinate corrective actions during faults or outages.
- Ensure compliance with international marine electrical codes, safety standards, and classification society requirements.
- Collaborate with the engineering and marine team for planned maintenance and critical troubleshooting.
- Support ongoing vessel modifications, upgrades, or new system installations.
- Maintain electrical spare parts inventory and assist in procurement planning.
- Participate in safety drills, inspections, and toolbox talks.
- STCW III/6 Electro-Technical Officer CoC (required)
- BOSIET/FOET with CA-EBS (required)
- Valid OGUK medical or equivalent (required)
- CompEx/IECEx Hazardous Area certification (preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an ETO on DP-classed offshore vessels (e.g., well intervention, ROV, subsea construction)
- Experience with marine diesel-electric propulsion systems and automation
