LÉLÉ is a bold new culinary destination celebrating the vibrant, soulful flavors of Afro-Caribbean cuisine. Opening mid-May in the heart of New York City, our restaurant will fuse tradition with innovation—serving elevated dishes inspired by the African diaspora, Caribbean islands, and the spice-laden street markets that define them. At LÉLÉ, we aim to honor heritage, tell stories through food, and create a space where culture and community meet on every plate.

Position Summary

We are seeking  dedicated, detail-driven Line Chefs   to join our opening team and help bring the heart of LÉLÉ’s kitchen to life. As a key part of our back-of-house brigade, you’ll execute dishes with precision and passion, maintain high standards of cleanliness and consistency, and contribute to a culture of respect, learning, and pride in Afro-Caribbean cuisine.

Whether you’re well-versed in traditional techniques or excited to dive in and discover a new culinary world, we’re looking for team players who bring energy, curiosity, and care to every shift.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and execute dishes according to LÉLÉ’s recipes and standards

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient station at all times

  • Ensure food quality, taste, and presentation meet restaurant expectations

  • Assist with prep, stock rotation, and inventory as needed

  • Follow all health and safety protocols in compliance with NYC regulations

  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with team members and leadership

  • Be open to feedback, learning, and growth in a dynamic kitchen environment

Qualifications
    • Minimum 1–2 years of kitchen experience (high-volume or upscale preferred)

    • Interest in or exposure to Afro-Caribbean cuisine is a plus—curiosity is key

    • Strong knife skills and knowledge of basic cooking techniques

    • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail

    • Team-oriented with a positive attitude and good communication skills

  • NYC Food Handler’s Certification (or ability to obtain upon hiring)
