Network Systems Engineer

to our dynamic team. This role involves supporting a cutting-edge program with the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, where you'll manage multiple workstations and network hardware in diverse environments, including customer sites and the cloud. We need an expert in deploying, monitoring, and maintaining network systems compliant with Department of Defense (DoD) specifications. In this position, you will: Design secure network architectures and implement systems that protect sensitive information. Monitor and operate customer networks, ensuring optimal performance and security. Support the deployment and installation of critical network equipment, such as routers, switches, and firewalls. Conduct testing to verify functionality and compliance, while troubleshooting and resolving installation challenges. Create and maintain accurate documentation of network configurations and technical processes. Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of network projects. Provide ongoing technical support and guidance to team members and end-users. Stay informed about DoD policies and best practices regarding network security and architecture. *This position requires a rotating shift schedule.* Primary Responsibilities: Develop detailed network designs that adhere to the highest standards. Work with procurement teams to identify and source necessary hardware and software. Oversee the installation and configuration of networking equipment. Test network systems for performance and security compliance. Document network configurations and updates effectively. Provide expert troubleshooting support during installations and testing. Continuously refine network diagrams and technical documents. Basic Qualifications: U.S. Citizen with a Top Secret Clearance and ability to obtain SCI before starting. Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of professional experience or a Master's degree with 2+ years of relevant work; additional experience may substitute for academic qualifications. Strong understanding of OSI Layers 1-4 protocols, security standards, and design principles. Experience with physical networking equipment and Local Area Networks (LANs). Proficiency in designing Wide Area Networks (WANs) using VPN technologies. Ability to utilize tools for network management, such as ICMP, SNMPv3, and Syslog. Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with federal acquisition regulations and procurement processes. Knowledge of cloud networking principles, especially in Microsoft Azure. Experience with cryptographic devices for secure networking. Expertise in configuring VPNs with tools like Cisco AnyConnect or Azure VPN Gateway. Experience with DoD networks, particularly classified ones. Relevant certifications, such as CCNP or CISSP, are a plus. Background in network performance monitoring and optimization. Strong grasp of cybersecurity practices, especially for OSI layers 1-3. Previous leadership or mentoring experience in a technical setting is desirable. Awareness of emerging technologies in network infrastructure. Original Posting:
