Essential Job Duties The Study Abroad Assistant is responsible for facilitating front office operations and ensuring visitors are welcomed. This position is responsible for disseminating information and responding to inquiries about the study abroad process and policies in an accurate, courteous, and timely manner, and providing exceptional service and support, and helping to resolve challenges as they arise. Managing the general office email account and interacting with students, families, academic units, and partner offices, this position is expected to maintain the confidentiality of communications and files and protect student privacy according to federal law and institutional policies.
This position is part time at 0.50 FTE, with an anticipated schedule of 20 hours per week.
Primary Responsibilities General advising: manage general study abroad email account, phone and front office reception Answer questions about study abroad opportunities, the application process, general funding information, the study abroad pre-departure process, and post-program transfer credit processes Provide walk-in study abroad advising weekly Interact with students, families, academic units, and partner offices; this position is expected to maintain the confidentiality of communications and files and protect student privacy according to federal law and institutional policies Provide student employee support for front office operations. Responsibilities will include managing day-to-day functions and projects, and providing feedback to their supervisor to assist in strong performance and a positive work experience for student staff Process international transcripts and course approval forms in coordination with the academic units and Registration and Records Following up with students so study abroad application requirements are completed before departure Preparing group travel packets for NC State faculty-led programs Coordinate program evaluations for dissemination to the relevant academic units Assist with study abroad course scheduling and course enrollment process, where needed

Department Required Skills The ideal candidate must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills, be responsible and possess excellent attention to detail, be able to take initiative and handle multiple tasks simultaneously, be courteous and enjoy working as part of a team. Effective communication skills are necessary to this position, as the candidate will be communicating with both international students as well as international and campus partners on a daily basis. Strong working knowledge of Google Office Suite is required. Ability to quickly learn new software relating to application management and student records. Candidates should have an interest in international education.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education Previous international experience, either study abroad or other preferred.
