Key Job Details - Neuro ICU RN Travel Nursing Job in Virginia Location: Chesapeake, VA 23320 (Coastal Virginia nursing jobs) Facility Setting: Neuro Intensive Care Unit (ICU Unit 64000/600040) Position Type: Travel Registered Nurse Contract Length: 13 weeks (91 days) Start Date: September 2, 2025 End Date: December 2, 2025 Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts/week (19:00 - 07:30) Total Hours/Week: 36 Weekend & Holiday Coverage: Required Orientation: 16 hours Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1780 - $1910 Qualifications - ICU Registered Nurse Requirements Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or Compact State (required at application) BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association required) NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required Minimum 1 year of recent ICU nursing experience (3 years preferred; strong candidates with less considered) Demonstrated Neuro ICU experience (post-neurosurgical, EVD, stroke management) Proficiency with EPIC charting system Willingness to float to Stepdown, Emergency Department (ED), or MedSurg units as needed Must pass EKG testing (80%+ score, no remediation) Must live at least 50 miles from facility (address verification required) Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions accepted) No prior license or background issues accepted Travel ICU RN Responsibilities Deliver high-quality, compassionate care to critically ill Neuro ICU patients, including neurosurgical, post-stroke, trauma, respiratory failure, renal failure, sepsis, and multi-organ dysfunction cases Manage ventilators, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, and emergency interventions Perform conscious sedation, dysrhythmia management, and respond to critical emergencies Care for patients with EVDs, post-neurosurgical needs, and complex neurological conditions Float to Stepdown, ED, or MedSurg units as required, providing ICU-level care in those settings Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams Maintain accurate and timely documentation using EPIC Complete orientation and all required modules prior to start date Ready to take your critical care nursing skills to the next level?
