Position Opening: Finance Director

Finance Director
to serve as the municipality’s Chief Financial Officer. This position offers a chance to play a central leadership role in a growing, dynamic community at the heart of Androscoggin County. Lisbon is a community on the move — with a growing population and revitalized downtowns. We’re looking for a Finance Director who combines technical excellence with a collaborative spirit to help guide our fiscal future. About the Role This is a key leadership position with high visibility and significant responsibility. The Finance Director reports to the Town Manager and Assistant Town Manager and oversees a team of
six direct reports . Core responsibilities include oversight of all municipal funds, financial reporting, budget preparation, debt management, payroll, tax collection, and management of trust and investment activity. The Finance Director also works closely with all departments and provides regular guidance to the Town Council. This is a
non-union, salaried, exempt
position aligned with Lisbon’s
compressed 4-day, 36-hour workweek (Monday–Thursday) . Evening meetings and additional hours will be required during budget development, annual audit preparation, and major project work. Key Responsibilities Oversee the Town’s financial operations including accounting, budget administration, payroll, and purchasing Manage treasury functions including investments, debt service, and cash flow forecasting Lead preparation of financial statements, audits, and required state and federal filings Supervise, develop, and support the Finance Department team Serve as a key advisor to the Town Manager and Town Council on fiscal matters What We’re Looking For We’re seeking a strategic, hands-on leader with the following qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or related field (Master’s or CPA preferred) Significant experience in municipal or public finance Strong knowledge of GAAP, GASB, and municipal budgeting practices Proven leadership and supervisory experience Excellent communication, customer service, and public presentation skills Commitment to innovation, transparency, and public trust Salary and Benefits Starting salary:
$98,238+, depending on experience and qualifications Benefits:
