Responsibilities

This position will produce digital and print content for the Department in collaboration with the department chair and administrator. Responsible for updating the department website and administering content on all social media platforms for the Department of Political Science including Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, and Instagram.

Works in conjunctions with the department chair and administrator to ensure information regarding department events, news, and initiatives shared via social media is timely and accurate. Tailors content on each outlet to increase user engagement. Schedules social media posts as needed during holidays and university closures. Monitors user engagement and insights.

Locates, designs, and edits graphics, photos, and videos as needed. Responsible for designing and creating graphics, photographs, videos, and text for promotional materials. Serves as photographer/videographer for department events. Along with the department chair, assists with writing the department's newsletter.

Qualifications

High school diploma/equivalent and one year of experience (Note: post high-school education and/or experience may substitute at a comparable rate.)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud or other media editing applications like Canva, InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop publishing. Knowledge of current digital publishing technologies, standards, and best practices. College-level work in communications and/or marketing is a plus. Ability to multitask, perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment, and meet project deadlines. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience with visual communication principles. Strong computer literacy skills including fluency with basic office tools (Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Google products). Familiarity with web design and content management systems.

Anticipated Salary Range

The salary for this position will be $15.00 hourly.
