BlueScope Recycling is a full-service, ferrous scrap metal recycler with processing facilities in Waterloo, IN, Delta, OH, and Mansfield, OH. BlueScope Recycling buys scrap from industrial generators, wholesale suppliers, and the general public, focusing on delivering the highest level of service. The Senior Human Resources Generalist supports the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources function at the plant recycling processing facility. This role partners closely with plant leadership and employees to drive HR initiatives, ensure compliance, foster a positive workplace culture, and support business goals. The Sr. HR Generalist serves as a trusted advisor in areas such as employee relations, talent acquisition, compliance, training, performance management, and HR policy administration. Duties and Responsibilities

Employee Relations & Engagement Serve as a primary point of contact for hourly and salaried employees regarding HR-related inquiries, concerns, and conflict resolution. Promote a culture of respect, safety, and inclusion through employee engagement and communication strategies. Conduct investigations and recommend appropriate actions in employee relations matters. Recruitment & Onboarding Lead full-cycle recruiting for both hourly and salaried positions; coordinate with hiring managers to ensure timely and effective hiring decisions. Oversee onboarding and orientation to ensure new employees are well-integrated and prepared for success. Policy & Compliance Interpret and enforce company policies, procedures, and employment laws in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., FMLA, FLSA, ADA, EEOC). Maintain compliance with company safety standards and work closely with EH&S personnel to support safety culture. HR Administration & Systems Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in HRIS (e.g., Workday). Manage HR reporting, including headcount, turnover, attendance, and compliance audits. Performance Management & Development Support supervisors in performance management, coaching, and documentation. Assist in the administration of performance reviews, goal setting, and employee development plans. Compensation & Benefits Support annual merit and incentive programs, job evaluations, and market benchmarking. Serve as an on-site resource for benefits questions and open enrollment assistance. Special Projects & Continuous Improvement Lead or support HR-related projects, including DEI initiatives, employee surveys, and organizational change efforts. Continuously seek process improvements to increase HR efficiency and effectiveness. Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required. 3+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Working knowledge of HRIS systems. Proven understanding of employment laws and HR best practices. Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt in a fast-paced industrial environment. Comfortable working in a steel recycling or heavy manufacturing setting, including time on the production floor. Preferred Qualifications

PHR and/or SHRM-CP certification. Corporate and plant-level experience. Workday Working Conditions

Primarily an on-site position at a heavy industrial facility. Must be able to walk the outside yard, attend safety and/or preshift meetings, and support retail operations during off-hours or shifts. Exposure to noise, dust, heat, and machinery when working in or around plant areas. Quantitative Scope
