The ACLU seeks a full-time position of Senior Software Engineer, Data in the Product and Engineering division of the Technology Department at the ACLU’s National office in New York, NY. This is a hybrid role that has in-office requirements of two (2) days per week or eight (8) days per month. The ACLU Technology Department covers both the ACLU’s Analytics and its Product & Engineering teams, providing analytics, engineering, product management, and product design expertise. The Senior Software Engineer will join the Data Pod, leading operational data engineering efforts, building and maintaining data products and integrations between AWS Redshift operational data warehouse and the broader technology ecosystem. Responsibilities include designing, building, testing, deploying, and maintaining scalable multi-source, multi-destination data pipelines and products; working with Dagster, dbt, and AWS ecosystem; contributing to a centralized communications consent management system; collaborating on data engineering for fundraising CRM migration; translating business requirements into data solutions; identifying and mitigating reliability and performance issues; and writing clean, tested, well-documented code. The role requires significant experience in developing and maintaining ETL pipelines, advanced Python and AWS skills, experience with data validation, modern orchestration and transformation tools, cloud infrastructure management, and excellent communication skills. Preferred qualifications include experience with Blackbaud CRM, AWS infrastructure management, legal or regulatory compliance products, and identity resolution tooling. The position is part of a collective bargaining unit represented by ACLU Staff United.
