We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Advanced Technology Group, focusing on the commercial HVAC segment. In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize innovative heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to enhance energy efficiency and performance. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will conduct simulations, perform thermal analysis, and implement cutting-edge technologies to meet industry standards and client needs. Duties include, but are not limited to: Propose technology concepts that lead to higher efficiencies, improved reliability, and comfort. Use concept selection methods to shortlist technologies for the technology development pipeline. Develop the shortlisted technology concepts for application in the commercial segments through analysis, simulation, and experimentation. Mature technologies to readiness for transfer into the New Product Development Cycle for Lennox. Develop algorithms using data from fielded and lab systems which enhance efficiency, reliability and/or comfort. The person in this position may also provide technical consultation to other organizations and work leadership for lower-level employees. What we are looking for: MS or Ph. D in mechanical engineering with a focus on thermal systems and heat transfer. Previous experience in the analysis, system design and performance validation of HVAC systems and components. Previous experience in hands on experimental work including setting up experiments, data acquisition, and data analysis. Thorough understanding of the basic concepts of thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid flow. Working knowledge of scientific programming with Python, VBA, EES, MATLAB, or C++. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
