Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Curriculum and Development (ADCD) works under the direction of the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment (DCIA) to establish a culture of continuous improvement regarding the comprehensive curriculum at Agora Cyber Charter School. The ADCD ensures that the comprehensive curricular offerings at Agora are driven by state standards, vertically and horizontally aligned, differentiated and viable for learners on a virtual platform. The ADCA oversees the processes, procedures, and professional development specific to course quality which is associated with the academic goals included in the school's Comprehensive Plan. In addition to the planning and implementation of our curriculum improvement efforts, the ADCD will monitor and evaluate the impact of our efforts by grade band, grade level, class and the individual student level. Beyond the annual scope of work, it is critical that The ADCD prepares for long- range or multi-year projects including, but not limited to new course requirements, integrated curriculum, interdisciplinary projects, project-based learning, graduation pathways or more personalized learning. The ADCD is focused on advancing our program offerings and preparing students for post-secondary success.
This individual will work with other Assistant Directors as well as grade-band leaders, department chairs, MTSS Coordinators, Professional Learning Coordinators, and other stakeholder to establish clear communication and coordination of courses across departments.

Ensures adherence to required curriculum Point person to receive and respond to state and federal curricular mandates
Responsible for communicating requirements and projected timeline to incorporate adjustments to DCIA Construct preliminary action plan reflecting adjustments within our existing program
Ensure the development of high-quality course offerings across content and grade levels Responsible for maintaining a consistent framework for the development and execution of the school's curriculum offerings Oversees the coordination and alignment between written, taught, and assessed curriculum; collaborates with other ADs on common goals related to this alignment Conducts audits of written, taught, and assessed curriculum using a research-based framework; makes recommendations for improvement to senior leadership based on findings Maintains system accurately reflecting status of our current curriculum cycle including new course offerings, retired courses, adjustment to core resources, and revisions to topics within units Initiates ways to provide ongoing feedback to staff as they develop curriculum Determines sequence of curricular offerings within and across departments including special education sections Initial point of contact for new course proposals, pilots or exemption requests to determine next steps toward final determination Ensures annual update to course offerings reflected in staff- and family-facing course catalogs where appropriate Develops and maintains "Assessment Blueprint" for teacher teams to submit when a new assessment is submitted for review
Designs and leads school improvement efforts related to curriculum improvement Provides up-to-date information regarding curriculum/status of courses for department chairs and school leaders Identifies gaps in course content and makes recommendations for materials and resources Oversees Advanced Placement (AP) program and collaborates on Dual Enrollment course offerings Identifies curricular professional development needs and opportunities for select staff to participate in professional learning in alignment with established school goals Identifies opportunities to introduce new methodology to compliment course content

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree Ability to prioritize and manage competing priorities, deadlines, and due dates Technical expertise regarding Understanding by Design, Course Quality and Course design Strong organizational skills with the ability to direct and manage change processes
Preferred Education and Experience: Master's degree SupervisorCurriculum and Instruction PK-12 (2915) or another academic area certification Advanced training or certification in curriculum and supervision

This job operates in a professional virtual environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones and photocopiers.
