Associate Professor
position in the
Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery . The selected candidate will contribute to the department’s mission to educate health science professionals, discover and translate advances in biomedical and social sciences, and model best practices in clinical care and public health through responsibilities in research, teaching, clinical service, administrative activities, and other services. Position Key Accountabilities: The faculty member will teach, participate in clinical service, administrative duties, and provide direct patient care and supervision of medical students and residents in clinical settings. Responsibilities include: Participating in the Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery practice in the Woodlands area Memorial Hermann locations, including participation in a UT general Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery physician group call team for coverage. Collaborating with other Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery physicians who will join the practice. Involvement in the recruitment, selection, and hiring of new or additional physicians to the group. Providing feedback regarding office operations, including hiring staff, office logistics, and new physician recruitment. Participating in the education and training of medical students and residents. Supporting the research mission of the department and university by: Facilitating access to patients for research staff. Assisting with the collection of research data, including biological specimens, as requested. Providing information and education on ongoing research studies to potentially eligible research subjects. Qualifications: The candidate must have a Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License. Board certification or eligibility is required or preferred. A minimum of 20 years of clinical experience or post-residency experience is required or preferred.
