Position Overview
The Solution Architecture & Integration Support role is a critical position supporting the Solution Lead in designing, developing, and implementing solution architectures for the GIS Modernization & Consolidation Capability. The role focuses on creating robust integration strategies that align with utility industry standards and business objectives, particularly for Geographic Information System (GIS) integration with enterprise systems. This position requires strong technical expertise, stakeholder collaboration, and project oversight skills to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Solution Architecture Design and Development
- Collaborate with Solution Lead to design and develop solution architectures, including Digital Foundation integration components, to support GIS modernization initiatives.
- Ensure architectures align with utility industry standards, such as those for smart grid, AMI, and enterprise system interoperability.
- Develop integration strategies that enable seamless connectivity between GIS and other enterprise systems, including SCADA, AMI, and asset management platforms.
- Produce detailed design documentation using tools like Microsoft Office, Visio, and Azure DevOps (ADO), ensuring clarity and compliance with project requirements.
Integration Strategy and Implementation
- Oversee the development and implementation of GIS integration strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical requirements.
- Work closely with Digital Teams, GIS Analysts, and key project stakeholders to identify, document, and prioritize integration requirements.
- Manage project teams within the GIS Capability to design, develop, and implement all in-scope integration objects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
- Validate test cases with stakeholders to ensure alignment with integration requirements and operational needs.
- Monitor and troubleshoot integration processes, addressing issues to maintain system performance and reliability.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Requirements Gathering
- Engage with cross-functional teams, including IT, engineering, and business units, to gather and document requirements for GIS integration.
- Facilitate workshops, whiteboarding sessions, and stakeholder meetings to align technical solutions with business goals.
- Act as a liaison between technical teams and client stakeholders to ensure clear communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
Deliverable Oversight and Quality Assurance
- Assist in preparing and reviewing solution deliverables, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to quality standards.
- Review design documentation with the sponsoring domain architect to validate technical feasibility and compliance with enterprise architecture guidelines.
- Ensure all deliverables meet project milestones, governance plans, and client expectations.
Project Management and Oversight
- Provide oversight for project teams, coordinating tasks and resources to meet project schedules and budgets.
- Utilize project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Azure DevOps) to track progress, manage risks, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address potential challenges in integration projects.
- Ensure compliance with utility industry regulations, such as NERC CIP, and client-specific governance frameworks.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education :
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience :
- 7+ years of experience in solution architecture, systems integration, or related roles within the IT or utility industry.
- 3+ years of experience working with GIS systems, preferably in utility or energy sectors.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing integration strategies for enterprise systems, including GIS, SCADA, AMI, or asset management platforms.
- Experience managing cross-functional project teams and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver complex technical solutions.
Technical Skills :
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Visio, and Azure DevOps (ADO) for documentation and project management.
- Knowledge of GIS platforms (e.g., Esri ArcGIS) and integration protocols (e.g., REST, SOAP, API management).
- Familiarity with utility industry standards, such as NERC CIP, NIST, or IEC 61850, and smart grid technologies.
- Experience with integration tools and middleware (e.g., MuleSoft, TIBCO, or equivalent) is a plus.
Soft Skills :
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering client-centric solutions.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and work independently or as part of a team.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience with utility-specific GIS modernization projects, particularly with clients in the Electric Utility Industries.
- Certifications in enterprise architecture (e.g., TOGAF), project management (e.g., PMP), or GIS (e.g., Esri Technical Certification).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and their integration with GIS systems.
- Knowledge of additional tools like JIRA, Smartsheet, or Tableau for project tracking and reporting.
