Job Summary
The Analyst serves as the primary administrative point of contact for and is responsible for the operational planning, execution, financial tracking, reporting, and business management functions of multiple internal funding and support programs administered by the Office of Research. The Analyst helps to ensure that the Office and each of its departments and associated units meet university, auxiliary, and Office fiscal requirements and deadlines accurately and promptly.

Department Summary
The Office of Research promotes excellence in research at Cal Poly, both basic and applied, as fundamental to the mission of the University and essential to Californias economic and civic vitality. The Office of Research is committed to enhancing these efforts by providing administrative and financial support for sponsored programs, including identification of funding opportunities, proposal submission, research compliance, and contracts and grant administration.
Key Qualifications
- Ability to gather information from a wide variety of resources, analyze, summarize and present the information in a useful, understandable manner.
- Ability to learn, interpret and apply a wide range of policies, procedures, principles, concepts, work processes, laws, rules and reference materials pertinent to university and auxiliary accounting and fiscal oversight.
- Ability to use tact and diplomacy to effectively handle a broad range of high level and sensitive interpersonal situations with diverse personalities, and to respond appropriately to conflicts and problems.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to set own priorities to coordinate multiple assignments with fluctuating and time-sensitive deadlines.
- Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university. Three (3) years of technical or administrative experience. A graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis
Anticipated Hiring Range: $70,000-$80,000 Per Year
Classification Range: $55,176 - $99,816 Per Year
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Anticipated Hiring Range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Classification Range may be broader than what the University anticipates paying for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).

Supplemental Information
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
