About the Role
We are seeking a visionary and technically adept Director of Virtualization to lead our virtualization and cloud infrastructure strategy. This role will oversee the design, implementation, and management of scalable, secure, and high-performance virtualization platforms including OpenStack, VMware, and Kubernetes. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a passion for innovation in cloud-native and hybrid environments.
Key Responsibilities: • Strategic Leadership: • Define and execute the virtualization and containerization roadmap aligned with business goals. • Lead cross-functional teams in the deployment and optimization of virtualization platforms. • Drive innovation in cloud infrastructure, automation, and orchestration. • Technical Oversight: • Architect and manage large-scale OpenStack, VMware vSphere/ESXi, and Kubernetes environments. • Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and performance tuning of virtualized workloads. • Oversee infrastructure as code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks. • Operational Excellence: • Establish and enforce best practices for security, compliance, and monitoring. • Manage vendor relationships, licensing, and budget planning for virtualization technologies. • Lead incident response and root cause analysis for infrastructure-related issues. • Team Development: • Mentor and develop a high-performing team of engineers and architects. • Foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. • 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure with 5+ years in a leadership role. • Proven expertise in: • OpenStack (Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Horizon) • VMware (vSphere, vCenter, NSX, vSAN) • Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, GKE, or self-managed clusters) • Strong knowledge of Linux systems, networking, and storage technologies. • Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Helm) and scripting (Python, Bash). • Familiarity with DevOps practices and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Preferred Qualifications • Certifications: VCP, CKAD/CKA, OpenStack Certified Administrator. • Experience with hybrid cloud and edge computing architectures. • Background in financial services, healthcare, or other regulated industries.
