UVA Dine is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Food Service Supervisor to oversee daily operations and lead a team of food service workers at Za'atar, our Mediterranean-inspired dining concept located at 10 Bonneycastle Drive on the University of Virginia grounds. This full-time position is crucial for ensuring high standards of food quality, customer service, and cleanliness, while maintaining efficient service flow, particularly during peak meal periods. Supervise and direct the daily activities of food service workers at Za'atar, including line servers, cashiers, and utility staff. Train new employees on proper food handling, menu item preparation, service procedures, and safety protocols specific to Za'atar's operations. Oversee service, ensuring all Mediterranean-inspired dishes and beverages are prepared, displayed, and served according to established recipes, quality standards, and portion control. Monitor inventory levels of food and supplies, assist with ordering, and ensure proper storage to minimize waste. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, ensuring strict adherence to all sanitation and HACCP guidelines. Address customer inquiries, feedback, and concerns promptly and professionally, resolving issues to ensure customer satisfaction. Assist in scheduling staff shifts to ensure adequate coverage and efficient operations for the desired schedule of 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM. Conduct regular inspections of dining and kitchen areas to ensure cleanliness, organization, and compliance with health and safety regulations. Operate and maintain kitchen and service equipment safely and efficiently. Handle cash and complete daily reports as required. Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, providing coaching and feedback to staff. Ensure compliance with all UVA Dine and Aramark policies and procedures. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in Hospitality Management or a related field preferred. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in food service, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role, preferably in a fast-casual, restaurant, or institutional dining environment. Strong knowledge of food service operations, including food preparation, service standards, and sanitation. Proven ability to lead, motivate, and train a team. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Proficiency in basic computer applications and POS systems. ServSafe certification required. Ability to work the consistent full-time schedule of 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM, which may include weekends and holidays as operational needs dictate. Additional Skills and Abilities

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (e.g., 8+ hours). Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds. Ability to work in a kitchen and dining environment, which may be hot, noisy, and require exposure to various temperatures. Ability to bend, stoop, and reach as needed.
