THE OPPORTUNITY Now Recruiting for 2026 Start We are looking for law students currently entering their final year of law school and on track to sit for the July 2026 California Bar Exam. This opportunity offers hands-on legal experience in public service, with hiring anticipated after August 2026.
The County of El Dorado is seeking graduates for the District Attorney's office. The duties performed by this classification will vary depending on the nature of the assignment and will be defined in the duty statement for the specific assistant's assignment. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to: Research, investigate, and conduct special studies or projects in support of the assigned department. Interview, collaborate and consult with County employees, officials, and interested persons or groups on matters related to work assignments. Collect and/or analyze information and data. Develop presentations and charts detailing analysis of information and data. Prepare, review, and monitor department files, and a assignment related documents. Assist in a wide variety of administrative or professional duties of the assigned department.
Education & Experience Requirements (typing "See Resume" in application will not be accepted) Where college degrees and/or college course credits are required, degrees and college units must be obtained from an accredited college or university. Courses from non-accredited institutions will not be evaluated for this requirement.
Current eligibility to take the California State Bar Examination. Students in their final year of law school may apply but may not fill the position until they are eligible to take the State Bar Examination. WORKING

Prior to starting, candidates must pass a thorough background investigation, submit proof of U.S. citizenship or legal right to work, and may be required to submit proof of age. Employment in this class is temporary in nature and is designed to offer graduates a practical learning experience. No part-time or full-time regular appointments will be made in or from this class.

This recruitment will establish a list for the purpose of filling current and future extra help vacancies for at least three (3) months. In accordance with Personnel Rules 1103.1 and 1105.1, an extra help or limited term employee may be transitioned into a regular employee if the department in which the employee works has a vacant allocated position for the same classification as held by the extra help or limited term employee and the appointing authority requests such transfer.
This opportunity is intended for current law students who are entering their final year of law school and are eligible to sit for the July 2026 California Bar Exam. Candidates must be on track to graduate in Spring 2026, with hiring anticipated after August 2026.
We currently have the following vacancies: Two (2) Extra Help vacancies in the District Attorney's Office located in Placerville, CA. These positions help maintain coverage for short-term or intermittent work needs, which may be seasonal, on-call, or for a limited duration. Extra help employees are not considered regular employees and do not attain civil service status. They do not receive benefits or paid leave, though they do accrue sick leave per applicable law.
