The Ink Technician Supports overall pressroom ink usage including allocating needed ink supplies, mixing spot colors, and maintaining inventories of inks, coatings and adhesives as required. Assists press operators with ink and coating related issues on press and works with vendors on delivery and product improvement.
Some of the duties include:
- Coordinate with Press Assistants and scheduling to dispense inks required for jobs.
- Maintain ink-dispensing systems.
- Proof, match dispensed ink offline to appropriate standard.
- Work with Press Operators to adjust colors as required.
- Maintain ink, coating and adhesive inventories and procure replenishment stock as appropriate.
- Oversee and maintain color standards for the Label Division.
- Work with QA on NCR's and test methods.
- Work with Project Managers to calculate ink usage.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Two years recent Flexographic Ink Technician work experience.
- Experience in using X-Rite Spectrophotometers. Visual color aptitude and experience with color theory.
- Level of work activity is medium, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of press operations.
- Must be able to read, write legibly, follow verbal and written instructions.
