Multilingual Learner Associate Instructors work under the general supervision of their school principal performing the essential performance responsibilities listed below.
General Purpose
Under the guidance of the Certified TESOL/Bilingual teacher and and in conjunction with the Multilingual Learner Program Supervisor, candidates will guide Multilingual Learners toward gaining knowledge and skills in order to increase English proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing. The candidate will provide individual student and small group instruction, support core content area teachers, monitor student progress, administer federal assessments as necessary, and identify MLL / Bilingual students.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
Under the direct guidance of the Certified TESOL/Bilingual teacher, building principal, and the MLL Program Supervisor, the Associate Instructor will:
- Implement curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
- Deliver lessons and use instructional materials that support language acquisition, challenge students, and effectively use time for instruction.
- Assess student learning and progress, and modify instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
- Assist in identifying students in need of MLL / Bilingual services.
- Deliver lessons and use instructional materials that support language acquisition, challenge students, and effectively use time for instruction.
- Assists in administering Federal standardized assessments (ie: PreLAS, LAS Links) as necessary.
- Performs duties and tasks as assigned by the building principal or designee.
- Experience working with MLL and/or Bilingual students preferred
- Experience working with school-aged children preferred
- Outstanding communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills; ability to keep concise records.
- Familiar with the Common Core State Standards.
- Outstanding personal/interpersonal communication skills.

- Sensitivity to the developmental stages of children.
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Qualifications Profile
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
- Bachelor’s from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
Successful prior classroom experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
