Job Responsibilities The successful candidates will provide administrative support, perform customer intake, and determine customer eligibility for various Kent County Community Action Department programs and services available through its Community Development Division. Programming includes Home Repair and Rehabilitation, Lead-Based Paint Evaluation and Reduction, and more housing repair-related activities.
We are seeking individuals with familiarity with community resources, ability to guide customers through the program application process, who have strong communication and organizational skills. The individuals will maintain a pipeline of customer applications while providing administrative support for residential construction projects.
Duties may include •Assisting and facilitating customer program applications. •Meeting with the public in person, over the phone and online, scheduling appointments, preparing routine and special reports, processing invoices, and maintain case files. •Attending public meetings to promote programs, documenting contractor certification/licensing, and communicating with external partners to coordinate resources.
Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED combined with additional work experience in a human services setting or related field is required. Associate's degree or higher in Human Service/Social Services, Business, or Public Administration is highly preferred. Additional certifications required by federal, state and local funding sources may be required to be obtained throughout employment.
Computer literacy, oral and written communication skills and the ability to be highly efficient while ensuring attention to detail is required. Employees in this position may be required to possess and maintain a valid Michigan Driver's License.
Must interact positively and professionally with customers and members of the general public from widely diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Must be able to periodically lift/push/pull/carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Local travel may occasionally be required.
