The Lead Architect position resides in the Wired department at CableLabs. This department leads the research & development of Access Layer technologies over HFC and PON networks. Our team plays a crucial role in creating scalable technology that can be deployed by Cable Operators to deliver High Speed Internet services to people all over the world.

The Lead Architect position is focused on research on DOCSIS technologies, and its evolution in the future. This role will be focused on leading design work, optimization, and support of HFC-based broadband access networks. The impact of your work will enable evolution of network technology to meet the needs of the Cable Operators and end customers.
What You'll Do Work at the intersection of system architecture, network performance, and protocol evolution, collaborating with industry partners to shape the future of cable broadband access Architect and optimize DOCSIS networks, understand problems faced by operators and come up with practical long term solutions. Design new capabilities around a data-centric and software enabled model for network operations Lead the investigation, design, prototyping, and validation of current and next-generation DOCSIS technologies Present research ideas to the cable industry partners and lead working groups with cross industry participants. Qualifications
What Is a Must Have
Minimum 7-10 years' experience, Master's or Ph.D in Electrical Engineering or Computer science, or equivalent; Sound understanding of DOCSIS MAC and PHY Layer protocols and the various interactions within a DOCSIS infrastructure. Solid understanding of MSO HFC deployment architectures (D3.0/D3.1/D4.0), including CMTS/CM/CCAP-Core/Remote PHY, OFDM/ OFDMA, digital signal processing, communication technologies . Strong expertise in IP network operations, TCP/IP protocols Software programming and scripting ability is a definite plus Familiarity with network telemetry data and its use within the cable network Ability to work across multiple teams focused on different aspects of DOCSIS technology development, testing, prototype development, certificatio Ability to deploy and run software tools to control and optimize the network, software programming or scripting What Will Set You Apart
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to synthesize complex technical information into actionable insights Experience with lab test equipment (spectrum analyzers, signal generators), network troubleshooting, CMTS/RPD platforms, and virtualization a plus. Proficiency in scripting/programming languages and tools for automation, data analysis, and lab orchestration. Strong writing, documentation, and presentation skills, with experience in research publication or industry standards contribution preferred Understanding of Information and data modeling, for network management purposes. Understanding and experience in Access layer technologies (DOCSIS/PON/Wireless) Participation in standards activities (e.g. IEEE/IETF/3GPP)

Compensation:
The salary range is $135,200 - $165,360. This position is eligible for bonus incentive compensation up to 20%of base salary.
