Essential Job Functions Connect data sources including excel, SQL databases, SharePoint and cloud-based platforms
Clean and transform data using Power Query (M Language)
Build and manage data models with proper relationships, hierarchies and key fields
Write DAX formulas for calculated columns, measures, KPIs and time intelligence
Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI Desktop
Publish and maintain reports in Power BI Service, including dataset refresh scheduling
Implement filters, slicers, drill-throughs and bookmarks to enhance user experience
Apply basic report performance tuning and optimization techniques
Implement Row-Level security (RLS) based on requirements
Collaborate with internal project teams and client stakeholders to gather report requirements
Interpret business requirements and translate them into technical reporting solutions
Participate in project meetings and status updates as part of a cross-functional team
Track hours, manage priorities and meet deadlines in an hourly consulting engagement model
Document report logic, data sources and configuration details for handoff or future updates
Support troubleshooting and refinement of existing reports and dashboards
Provide input on report usability, layout, and visual design best practices
Maintain awareness of Power BI feature updates and apply relevant improvements to solutions
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications · Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience ·
1–3 years of experience building reports in Power BI
(Power BI Desktop and Service) · Experience
connecting to and preparing data from common sources
like Excel, SQL databases, SharePoint, etc. · Proficiency in
Power Query (M language)
for data transformation · Working knowledge of
DAX
for calculated columns, measures, KPIs · Experience
designing dashboards and visualizations
that support decision-making · Ability to work independently on assigned tasks within project timelines · Strong communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and clients · Successful completion of a drug and background screen · Must be an authorized worker residing in the United States Preferred Qualifications · Experience implementing row-level security (RSL) in Power BI · Exposure to data modeling best practices (e.g. star schema, normalization) · Experience with the
Atlassian Jira, MS Office Suite · Experience with
Agile, Waterfall,
and
Hybrid
project methodologies. · Experience presenting reports to clients or supporting requirements-gathering sessions · Familiarity with version control tools (e.g. Git, bitbucket) or lifecycle documentation Appreciated Qualifications · Basic SQL querying skills · Exposure to Microsoft Power Platform · Experience with custom visuals or embedded Power BI in web platforms · Understanding of data governance, report security or compliance considerations · Enthusiasm for leaning new features and keeping up with Power BI updates as it pertains to AI · Prior experience in consulting, freelance or contract work model.
